Arklow Library Knitting Club Supports Christmas Shoebox Appeal

The talented members of the Arklow Library Knitting Club have been busy knitting a storm in aid of the Team Hope Christmas Shoebox appeal.

he group of highly skilled ladies, who meet every Thursday at Arklow Library, have spent several knitting sessions carefully crafting a huge range of soft and cuddly children’s toys including bears, sheep, bunnies and all kinds of cheerful characters.

The toys will be collected by a member of the Christmas Shoebox team from Team Hope, an annual campaign that delivers gifts directly into the hands of children affected by poverty.

Shoebox gifts are often the only gift a child will receive at Christmas and the joy they bring is amazing. Since 2010, with the help of the public, Team Hope has delivered over 2.1 million shoeboxes to vulnerable children around the world.

Kathy Scott, Executive Librarian at Arklow Library, said: “The knitting group is really talented and as you can see they have been extremely busy! It’s a really worthy cause that they support, and they love their job, so it’s a win-win for everyone.

The Arklow Library Knitting Club meets at Arklow Library every Thursday at 6.30pm. For more information, contact Arklow Library on (0402) 39977.
