Burbank embroidery company makes Rams jerseys by hand

“Hundreds of millions of people are going to watch this game. It’s going to be awesome,” said Louis Talamantes, president and owner of Buddy’s All Stars in Burbank. Pristine white jerseys are what the team will wear on Sunday and they are each hand sewn by dedicated Angelenos.

He immigrated from Mexico to Texas before calling LA home when he was 7 years old. A veteran and retired Culver City fire captain, his team now creates the jerseys that NFC champions will wear on Super Bowl Sunday.

“We started from a building that was 12 and a half feet by 50 feet until we are today, it’s incredible.”

“I’m the owner of the business, but the people behind me, the people you see around us, is the business,” he said. “They are the heart of the business.”

Daniel Perez, Buddy’s chief operating officer, helped close the deal with the Rams.

“I can’t believe I’m part of it, to be honest with you,” Perez said.

He also helps lead a team of hard-working tailors.

Some tailors have been around for decades and generations. Perez said one particular tailor came from three generations of tailors.

“There’s no computer, there’s no machine that can do that,” he said. “At the end of the day, it takes a human being with experience.”

“His name is Louis Fernandez, he’s from an area of Mexico called Puebla,” Perez said. “It all started in the backyard of his house, in fact, his grandfather, then his father and he already came to America with his talent.”

He makes his family proud of his dedication.

“He’s the only person I know who makes jerseys for the Rams and Quincenera dresses for his girls,” Perez said.

They stitch carefully for a Super Bowl victory.

“Each patch will be sewn by hand, because every patch has to be perfect,” Perez said. “It’s our year, our year to be part of the championship team.”
