A special exhibition of looms and handicrafts will be held at JSS Mysore Urban Haat located on the Ring Road in the Hebbal Industrial Zone in the city from March 22 to April 4.
The twin exhibitions, which coincide with the Ugadi celebrations, were organized by JSS Mysore Urban Haat in association with the Office of the Development Commissioner (Handlooms) and the Office of the Development Commissioner (Crafts), Ministry of Textiles , Government of India, New Delhi.
Over 60 weavers from Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Delhi, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka and representing weavers’ cooperative societies across the country will participate in the special handloom exhibition called Samskruti 2022 to display and sell their products.
The products will be made available to consumers at a 20% discount, a press release from the organizers said.
Products include various types of sarees, Pashmina shawls, Madurai ties and dyes, blankets, floor coverings and other hand weaving products.
The main objective of the exhibition with the theme “My Handloom My Pride” is to provide a market for handloom products and ensure their survival.
More than 40 artisans from various states will participate in the craft show at JSS Urban Haat.
Items available include slippers from Kolhapur, decorative home jugs, furniture, Delhi dresses, Gujarat state colors and artifacts, paintings, embroidery, traditional dolls, beaded jewelry from Hyderabad, plant print clothing from Tamil Nadu, rugs, leathers, bronze statues, foot mats, pottery from Karnataka, Channapatna dolls, clay jugs and flower pots.
Precautions against covid19
Precautionary measures against COVID-19 will be in place at the exhibition.
