Ever since the Knitters and Crafters moved their Thursday morning meetups to the McHenry/Johnsburg Moose Lodge on Route 31, the Crafty Happy Hookers have been having a most wonderful time.
As for many years in the past, we continue to make afghans, hats, slippers, etc., for our VA Lovell veterans and for veterans in distress, near and far, wherever we can find a way to join them. .
In time for Easter, the Fox Lake American Legion Ladies Auxiliary managed, with a lot of time and hard work, to deliver over 100 of our Afghan blankets/laps, along with all of their other collected gifts. It was a wonderful way to let these veterans know that many of us have not forgotten them and that we were very proud to be part of this achievement.
With enthusiasm, we made knitwear to send overseas to Ukraine, and collected a shipment of clothes, much of it for children. We also continue to knit or crochet many baby outfits for our local First Way.
Our renewed efforts were made possible by the warm and charitable welcome we received at each of our weekly meetings. For those who would like to help us with these many efforts and simply have some unused yarn lying around, please drop it off at the Moose.
From all of us, ladies, a most heartfelt and happy “thank you” to McHenry/Johnsburg Moose Lodge #691, its officers and members. You have helped make all of these efforts possible, and many more to come.
The reluctant leaders,
Donna Koerner and Barbara Klapperich
