Petit fours are as important as purls at a local knit and tea shop

Over the past year, local yarn destinations Petit Fours and Purlshas have become known for their selection of high-end fiber, knitting and crochet classes and weekly sewing nights. But for co-owners Katy Carroll and Camera Meyer, petit fours have always been as important as purl knitting. Sweets and freshly baked drinks are available during shop opening hours and are prepared on the spot, with a menu that rivals the larger tearooms. The Main Street business also offers a variety of curated tea options.

All dishes are freshly cooked and prepared on site by baker Nicole Bigler. Hosted at the boutique in the private tea room overlooking Main Street, a group of two or a group of twelve can enjoy a full lunch or a light dessert. “Recently we served a group of two for afternoon tea – a couple celebrating an anniversary. Recently a family also came to celebrate the life of a deceased daughter,” Bigler said. so hard to find food that isn’t fast and casual. My goal is to make sure everything is high quality. And different! We offer something different. Something sweet and not a cupcake, donut or cookie.

The Petit Fours and Purls tea menu offers a variety of options, ranging from a large afternoon tea – with several sandwich options, assorted pastries, cold cuts and a choice of tea, hot chocolate or lemonades – to a smaller option like dessert tea.

Children’s birthday parties are a big hit,” especially with six- to eight-year-olds, and not just girls either. Good treats and a craft activity are fun for everyone,” Carroll said. These parties include kid-friendly foods such as sandwiches, fruit, cheese, assorted petit fours and cakes.

Teas can be ordered to take away, as well as some confectionery. For those looking for a unique and fun treat, a special themed take-out picnic box is now available for pre-order. The Picnic in Paris box is filled with French confectionery made with a unique blend of Champs-Elysées herbal teas.
