Knitting-loving Preston locals descended on Flag Market last Saturday for the World Wide Knitting in Public Day event.
On Saturday June 11, the Preston Flag Market saw local bands ‘Knitting Café @ The Larder’ and ‘The Knit and Purl Jam’ sharing their enthusiasm for knitting, crocheting and all things yarn-based with residents from Preston.
The creations of the day included a large broomstick and a brightly decorated bicycle.

New knitters and beginner crocheters meet every two weeks at The Larder, with the next session on Tuesday, June 14, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
All are welcome to come and learn a new skill or brush up on old skills, with the group meeting weekly on a Thursday at The Larder, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The group said all were welcome for a “good old fashioned knitting and chatting” in this inclusive community and skill-sharing group.

The Knit and Purl Jam Yarn Decorating Group meets every second and fourth Sunday of the month at The Larder, with the next session Sunday, June 12, 1:30-3:30 p.m.
The group said all are welcome, regardless of skill level.
Participants can participate in various knitting and crochet projects “to make Preston more beautiful”.
